Xeriscape
for the Okanagan.

Once a hedge or old lawn comes out, xeriscape is what goes back in. Drought-tolerant Okanagan natives, gravel, and decorative aggregate — less water, less mowing, less fuel against the house.

FAQ

Common questions.

Why xeriscape in the Okanagan? +
Two reasons: water restrictions tighten every summer, and dense lawn or cedar hedges are fuel for wildfire. Xeriscape solves both — recommended by the Okanagan Xeriscape Association as a FireSmart pairing.
What plants? +
Mock orange, smooth sumac, saskatoon — all native, drought-tolerant, and fire-smart. We work with you on the plant pick.
Does it qualify for a FireSmart rebate? +
When done as part of FireSmart vegetation reduction (cedar/juniper removal), yes. The City of West Kelowna grant covers eligible work.
